The Central Iowa Tourism Region (CITR) is a non-profit organization representing 35 counties and over 130 private members that is dedicated to enhancing tourism in central Iowa through information, education, and promotion in cooperation with government and business. The region is governed by a board of directors elected from the membership, with activities coordinated by an executive director and administrative assistant.
Who Qualifies to Become a Member?
Those eligible for membership include lodging and dining establishments, retail businesses, attractions, festivals, events, tour companies, campgrounds, golf courses, community and area tourism organizations, convention & visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, conservation organizations, government organizations, and other private businesses or individuals interested in tourism development or promotion in the Central Iowa Tourism Region. What Does the Central Iowa Tourism Region Do?
Promotes Central Iowa tourism opportunities to group tour and individual markets.
Responds annually to thousands of requests for tourism information about Central Iowa.
Produces marketing materials promoting Central Iowa.
Offers marketing and education grants.
Provides educational programs for members.
Supports the efforts of the tourism industry in the Central Region and the state of Iowa.
Represents the interests of the region to statewide tourism organizations.
Membership Dues
Membership dues are currently $125 annually and the region's membership year runs July 1-June 30. New members may join anytime during the year but membership dues are not pro-rated.

Membership Meetings
The region meets on an every other month schedule with meetings held in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Meetings are held at CITR member properties.
